Amid the horns of construction vehicles and the salvo of ceremonial cannons, the Section 3 water diversion project in Zhanjiang City officially broke ground.

　　Hong Xiaodong, Fourth-Level Researcher of the Zhanjiang Water Affairs Bureau; Long Houjun, Deputy General Manager of Guangdong Yuehai Yuexi Water Supply Co., Ltd. and Chairman of Zhanjiang Hedi Water Supply Operation Co., Ltd.; Wang Fating, Chief Supervision Engineer of Guangdong Shunshui Engineering Construction Supervision Co., Ltd.; and relevant personnel from the Water Conservation Office of the Water Affairs Bureau, Guangdong Provincial Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Survey and Design, the Pearl River Water Resources Commission, the Pearl River Hydraulic Research Institute, and the Third Engineering Company attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

　　At the ceremony, all participating parties made statements, expressing that they will form a capable project management team, earnestly implement the work requirements of the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government regarding the Yuexi Project of “unified planning and phased implementation,” deploy resources scientifically, and carry out construction meticulously. With a high sense of political awareness, overall perspective, and responsibility, with full enthusiasm and ample drive, and upholding the core philosophy of “water of life, water of politics, water of economy,” they will comprehensively advance the construction of the Zhanjiang water diversion project.

　　The Zhanjiang water diversion project is an important component of the Zhanjiang branch trunk line of the Beibu Gulf Rim Water Resources Allocation Project. It is a key livelihood project deployed by the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government to safeguard water supply security for the people of Zhanjiang. The project diverts water from Hedi Reservoir to the water plants in Chikan, Mazhang, and Xiashan districts of Zhanjiang City, ensuring water supply security for each district while also meeting the future water demand for urban development in Zhanjiang's main urban area. In addition, the project reserves water diversion outlets for Lianjiang City and Suixi County along the route to meet their production and domestic water needs. Its main construction content is the water conveyance pipeline, including water conveyance pipeline works, box culvert jacking works crossing railways, pipe jacking works crossing canals, pipe jacking works crossing expressways, pipe jacking works crossing national highways, immersed tube works, surge tower works, electromechanical installation works, and more.
