Recently, shield tunneling on the left line of the Yuewang Road Station–Paojiang Lianghu Station section of Shaoxing Metro Line 2 successfully surpassed the 100-ring milestone. The "Kunlun No. 35" shield machine is operating with normal tunneling parameters and is advancing steadily and in an orderly manner.

Phase I of Shaoxing Metro Line 2 has a total length of 10.8 kilometers, running from Yuexi Road Station in the west to Yuexing Road Station in the east, with 9 stations in total. Section 4 of Line 2, constructed by the Rail Transit Company of Sinohydro Bureau 4 Co., Ltd., comprises 2 stations and 2 sections: the Paozhong Road Station–Yuewang Road Station section, Yuewang Road Station, the Yuewang Road Station–Paojiang Lianghu Station section, and Paojiang Lianghu Station. It is an important project for Shaoxing to deeply integrate into the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta, align with the "one center, three areas, central rise" development strategy, and promote the coordinated development of various urban areas. It is of great practical significance for building the framework of a major city in Shaoxing, improving the urban transportation development pattern, and alleviating traffic pressure in the urban area.

The Yuewang Road Station–Paojiang Lianghu section starts from Yuewang Road Station and runs along Yangjiang Road, passing beneath Yangjiangjing before connecting to Paojiang Lianghu Station. The section is 737 meters long with 615 rings in total. The tunnel passes mainly through silty clay, clayey silt, and silty silty clay strata. Since the left-line shield of this section was launched across the entire line on March 19, 2021, the project department has adopted five measures to ensure the smooth and orderly progress of shield construction in the Yuewang Road Station–Paojiang Lianghu section as well as schedule and safety. First, plans were carefully arranged, with targets broken down to each day and each shift. Second, technical research was carried out multiple times, and the construction plan was continuously optimized to improve the quality of shield segment assembly. Third, ground settlement and tunnel body monitoring were strictly controlled, and design parameters were adjusted and necessary measures taken based on monitoring results. Fourth, face earth pressure, muck discharge volume, and advance speed were strictly controlled to maintain balance and stability of the excavation face. Fifth, synchronous grouting and secondary grouting management for the shield were strengthened, and the gaps between segments and strata were promptly and densely backfilled. Through exploration, summarization, and optimization of tunneling parameters, shield advancement increased from 4 rings per day at the beginning to 8–9 rings, with a maximum of 10 rings. There are recent plans to increase from one battery locomotive to two, and the tunneling speed is expected to reach about 20 rings.

According to the tunneling plan, the "Kunlun No. 35" shield machine on the left line of the shield-tunneled section is expected to be received at the west end shaft of Paojiang Lianghu Station at the end of June. The "Kunlun No. 36" shield machine on the right line of the Yuewang Road Station–Paojiang Lianghu Station section will also be launched soon, leading shield tunneling across the entire line.
