On April 12, according to reports, the Fuzhou-Xiamen High-Speed Railway is China's first cross-sea high-speed railway with a design speed of 350 km/h, and is scheduled to be completed and opened to traffic next year. Affected by the relocation and modification of oil and gas pipelines, 108 pier positions in the Xiamen-Zhangzhou section only began pile driving construction during the Spring Festival, and they have a crucial impact on whether the Fuzhou-Xiamen High-Speed Railway can open as scheduled. The reporter learned from the Municipal Railway Construction Command that in order to avoid delaying the construction period, the construction unit has mobilized manpower, materials, and machinery from multiple sources, increased investment, and made every effort to rush the work. After two months of effort, most of the pile foundations have been completed, and they will strive to complete all by the end of June.
At a construction site of the Jimei Grand Bridge in the Xiamen-Zhangzhou section, the reporter saw 16 advanced rotary drilling rigs lined up, engaged in intense pile driving construction. This type of pile driver is different from ordinary percussion drilling rigs and can increase pile driving efficiency by 5 to 6 times. At present, China Railway Sixth Group, which undertakes the construction of the ninth bid section of the Fuzhou-Xiamen High-Speed Railway, has divided workers into two shifts for 24-hour uninterrupted construction. Pile driving operations are arranged during the day, and at night, construction with less noise such as slurry discharge and concrete pouring is arranged as much as possible to meet the project progress requirements.
It is understood that the Xiamen-Zhangzhou section of the ninth bid section of the Fuzhou-Xiamen High-Speed Railway is a control project within Xiamen, including three grand bridges: Jimei, Dongfu, and Tianzhushan. Their construction is directly affected by the relocation and modification of oil and gas pipelines, affecting the pile foundation construction of 108 pier positions in total. Among them, the most affected is the Jimei Grand Bridge, with as many as 101 pier positions. In early February this year, through the efforts of relevant departments and units, the relocation and modification of oil and gas pipelines in the Xiamen-Zhangzhou section was successfully completed. China Railway Sixth Group immediately organized construction machinery to enter the site and started pile foundation construction, ensuring no work stoppage during the Spring Festival. In order to have sufficient manpower and equipment, they also transferred pile driving equipment from other construction sites inside and outside the province. At the same time, in response to the geological conditions of Xiamen with many underground rocks and boulders, they made technical improvements to the rotary drill bits of the pile drivers, equipping them with roller bits and pick bits that can cut hard rock.

Chen Haibo, deputy project manager of China Railway Sixth Group: We installed 10 to 18 alloy bullet heads to cut the rock granite, so that the granite can be lifted out of the pile foundation construction hole as a whole, avoiding manual treatment and secondary treatment by other machines.
At present, 3,500 pile foundations of the three grand bridges in the Xiamen-Zhangzhou section of the Fuzhou-Xiamen High-Speed Railway have been completed, accounting for 80% of the total, of which 2,300 have been completed for the Jimei Grand Bridge, accounting for 74%. The remaining pile foundation works will strive to be fully completed by the end of June.
Chen Haibo, deputy project manager of China Railway Sixth Group: When the pile foundation construction is completed by the end of June, it will save 150 to 200 days for the subsequent superstructure and track laying and erection construction of the Fuzhou-Xiamen High-Speed Railway, creating favorable time conditions.
