The Line 6 Branch, which has attracted much attention from residents of Shenzhen and Dongguan, recently brought important news: all 8 shield-driven sections of the entire line have been holed through. This also marks that all tunnels of the line have been completed; next, the entire line will fully enter a new stage of decoration and finishing.

　　Recently, the right line of the Xinzhong section (i.e., “Xinming Hospital Station - Sun Yat-sen University Station”) of the Line 6 Branch was successfully holed through, 4 days ahead of the planned milestone. With this, all 8 shield-driven sections of the entire line have been completed, creating favorable conditions for the next track-laying construction.

　　The reporter learned that, facing difficulties such as a tight schedule and heavy tasks, the project department adopted measures such as muck conditioning, enhanced surveying, advance reinforcement, and chamber opening for cutter replacement, enabling the shield machine to successfully pass beneath highway tunnels and alongside a large number of residential houses, Tongfuyu Industrial Park, and other important buildings. Under the condition of ensuring no ground collapse and no monitoring anomalies, the left line achieved a monthly excavation of 277 rings, and the right line achieved a monthly excavation of 255 rings.

　　The Line 6 Branch starts from Guangming Station of Line 6 in Guangming District and ends at the Shenzhen-Dongguan boundary, with a total length of 6.13 kilometers and a total of 3 stations and 4 sections. Among them, Guangming Station is the transfer station between the Line 6 Branch and Line 6.

　　Up to now, all sections of the entire line have been holed through, all 3 stations on the entire line have been capped, and the ancillary main structure has been completed by 54%.

　　The Metro Line 6 Branch is expected to be completed and open to traffic in 2022. By then, travel for residents of Shenzhen and Dongguan will be more convenient, and the northern part of Shenzhen will also usher in new development opportunities.
