Construction of the intercity rail transit project from Wuxi urban area to Jiangyin is in full swing. Among the underground stations, Waitan Station, Nanmen Station, and Qiche Keyun Station have entered the earthwork excavation and main structure construction phase; the much-watched Zhongshan Park Station, a core station in Jiangyin urban area, is about to enter enclosed construction; the elevated stations Xuxiake Station, Qingyang Station, Jiangyin South Station, and Nanzha Station have entered the station infrastructure construction phase. Shield tunneling is expected to launch from Qiche Keyun Station across the entire line in July this year, when bridge-erecting machines on the elevated section will also simultaneously begin bridge deck paving.

　　A 20-meter-wide, over 200-meter-long construction section has broken through the ground on Huashan Road beside Jiangyin Qiche Keyun Station. Rows of installed crown beam supports are laid out in parallel; on the construction roads on both sides, transport vehicles carrying steel rebar, cement, and other building materials shuttle back and forth; on the bottom slab of the underground space, workers are tying rebar and pouring concrete. This is the lowest foundation structure of the Qiche Keyun Station platform. On the afternoon of the 25th, the reporter visited Qiche Keyun Station on the Xicheng S1 Line, where construction was bustling on site, and Xicheng rail transit construction has shifted into "acceleration" mode.

　　"Since March, construction at all stations on the Xicheng S1 Line has been in 'full bloom,' with the north and south ends advancing at accelerated speed, sprinting toward the annual construction target," said a relevant person in charge from Wuxi Metro Construction Company. At present, all stations along the line are going full steam ahead to boost construction progress and create conditions for the launch of shield tunneling across the entire line in mid-July this year. From Yanqiao Station on Wuxi Metro Line 1 along Xuxiake Avenue toward Jiangyin, many locations outside the green belts along the route have been enclosed with hoardings; inside are the busy construction sites of the Xicheng S1 Line.

　　Station construction is beginning to take shape, and section construction is also in full swing. "In the elevated section, the section from Jiangyin High-Speed Railway Station to Nanzha Station is undergoing bored pile and pile cap excavation construction; large excavators on site dig more than 20 tons per day. Construction is busy on the section from Xuxiake Station to Yanqiao Station, which will 'join hands' with Metro Line 1, and construction of two elevated pile caps has been completed," the person in charge said. On the faster-progressing section from Jiangyin South Station to Qingyang Station, completed elevated pier columns can already be seen; in the underground section, the open-cut section from Jiangyin Waitan Station to Nanmen Station has begun crown beam support construction.

　　Zhongshan Park Station is located in the center of Jiangyin urban area. In late August last year, hoardings were set up near Jiangyin Renmin Middle Road, where the station is located, to begin municipal pipeline relocation. "By late December last year, pipeline relocation was basically completed; during this period, the Xinhong Bridge, which the shield tunneling section of Zhongshan Park Station needs to pass beneath, was demolished and rebuilt," a relevant person said. At present, all preparatory work is ready, and enclosed construction of the main structure is in the countdown. At that time, together with later traffic diversion, the area is expected to see 18 months of enclosed construction.

　　It is reported that the Xicheng intercity rail transit project is expected to be completed and open to traffic in 2024. By then, citizens will be able to travel north from Nanfangquan Station by the side of Taihu Lake on Metro Line 1 all the way to Jiangyin Waitan Station by the Yangtze River, strongly promoting the integrated development of Wuxi and Jiangyin. At present, because Jiangyin High-Speed Railway Station will form a Jiangyin railway station hub with the planned South Yanjiang Railway and the Yancheng-Taizhou-Wuxi-Changzhou-Yixing Railway, multiple interfaces need to be reserved in advance. The construction plan is undergoing final discussion and is expected to start construction soon.
