On March 23, the "Xingye" shield machine, specially tailored for the Zhuhai Xingye Express Line (South Section) tunnel project, passed factory acceptance. The "Xingye" shield machine, customized for Section 2 of the Xingye Express Line (South Section), is truly a "behemoth," with a diameter of 15.76 meters and a total weight of about 4,500 tons. Its shield body features an articulated telescopic function.

It is reported that next, the shield machine will be disassembled at the factory in Jiangsu, transported by sea and land to Section 2 of the Xingye Express Line (South Section) in Zhuhai, and then reassembled on site. At present, the main structure of the shield launching shaft for Section 2 of the Xingye Express Line (South Section) has been completed. To ensure the smooth entry of the shield machine, the construction unit is making every effort to carry out the roof slab construction of the trailer section so as to provide space for the entry and assembly of the shield machine. The shield launching shaft is also undergoing related work such as the construction of the shield launching cradle.

Once completed, the Xingye Express Line (South Section) project will, together with the Xingye Express Line (North Section), form a complete north-south urban expressway, connecting northward to Zhongshan and the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, and southward to downtown areas such as Gongbei and Jida. It is of great significance for convenient north-south travel in Zhuhai. Among them, Section 2 of the Xingye Express Line (South Section) has a total length of 2.3 kilometers, including a 1.74-kilometer main-line shield tunnel. In some sections, two shield tunnels overlap vertically, making construction extremely difficult.

A relevant person in charge said that the rollout of the large-diameter shield machine for the main line will add another powerful tool to the Xingye Express Line (South Section) project, and the project will then fully enter the tunnel construction stage.
