On March 15, with the completion of the integral lifting of the 6800-ton arch rib of the 300-meter main span, the 420-meter span arch rib of the main bridge of the Qilu Yellow River Bridge, invested and constructed by Jinan Urban Construction Group and built by CCCC Second Highway Engineering Co., Ltd., was successfully closed, marking the closure of the main span of the world's largest through-type network tied-arch bridge.

The Qilu Yellow River Bridge is located in Huaiyin District, Jinan City. It is a key project for Jinan to promote the conversion of new and old kinetic energy and the development along the river. It is designed according to the standard of a two-way eight-lane first-class highway, with both road and rail on the same level, and also serves the function of an urban arterial road. The design speed is 60 km/h, the total length of the route is 6742 meters, and the main bridge length is 1170 meters. The Qilu Yellow River Bridge is the first through-type network tied-arch bridge over the Yellow River, with a main span of 420 meters and a width of 60.7 meters, creating the world's largest span and maximum beam width for bridges of the same type. Its 400 MPa ultra-high stress amplitude cables are developed and applied for the first time in the field of bridge construction.

The lifting of the 420-meter arch rib of the main span of the Qilu Yellow River Bridge is the most difficult and risky key node in the entire main bridge construction. The lifting span is 300 meters, and the lifting weight reaches 6800 tons, equivalent to the weight of 220 Boeing 737 aircraft. It sets a world record for the lifting weight in the three-stage installation operation of arch rib lifting and closure in bridge engineering. It is also the first time that lifting and closure technology has been used on the Yellow River, and the first time in the world that arch rib lifting and closure operations have been carried out without a separate closure segment in bridge construction. It is truly the "First Arch over the Yellow River and the World's Largest Hoist".

As a "super project" over the Yellow River, during the arch rib erection, the project team of CCCC Second Highway Engineering Co., Ltd. overcame major difficulties such as the hoisting of overweight components and the precision control of arch rib segment installation under the geographical constraints of "no navigation when there is water, no driving when there is no water" for construction across the Yellow River and the adverse environmental impacts of high wind speed, large temperature difference, and rapid temperature changes. They independently developed a 120-ton large-scale gantry crane for the erection of super-high arch rib segments, with the maximum hoisting weight of an arch rib segment being 99.3 tons and the maximum hoisting height being 46 meters. In addition, the project introduced an online monitoring system for the operating status of the gantry crane to monitor the crane's operation in real time and ensure construction safety; the developed and designed automatic attitude adjustment spreader + three-way jack fine-tuning system can achieve millimeter-level error installation of arch rib segment positions.
