On the morning of February 27, accompanied by the roar of rotary drilling rigs, the first pile foundation of the grand bridge crossing the Hangzhou-Huangshan Railway on Phase II of the Hangzhou-Wenzhou Railway, located not far from Tonglu High-Speed Railway Station, was successfully drilled, marking the start of the project's main construction.

Phase II of the Hangzhou-Wenzhou Railway, namely the section from Tonglu to Yiwu in Hangzhou, broke ground on December 30 last year. The grand bridge crossing the Hangzhou-Huangshan Railway, where the first pile was drilled, is a controlling project for the entire line. The bridge successively crosses the Dayuanxi River, the Shibu Grand Bridge of the Hangzhou-Huangshan Railway, and the Hangzhou-Xin'an-Jingdezhen Expressway, with a total length of 4,149.55 m.

 

　　Phase II of the Hangzhou-Wenzhou High-Speed Railway connects to the under-construction Hangzhou-Huangshan High-Speed Railway link line. It starts from the newly built Tonglu East Station, passes through Tonglu, Pujiang and Yiwu counties (cities), and connects to Yiwu Station on the Shanghai-Kunming High-Speed Railway. The newly built main line is 59 km long, with a design speed of 350 km/h and a total investment of 9.48 billion yuan. Two stations, Tonglu East and Pujiang, will be built, and bridges and tunnels account for 94.5% of the entire line. The project will be completed during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.

 

　　As part of the Hangzhou-Wenzhou Railway, a key project for Zhejiang Province to achieve a "one-hour provincial transport circle," the project is an important component of the Yangtze River Delta intercity railway network and the first high-speed railway project in Zhejiang Province to be solely funded by the province. It is led in investment and construction by the Zhejiang Provincial Communications Group.

　　It is reported that Phase I of the Hangzhou-Wenzhou Railway, namely the Yiwu-Wenzhou section, has also entered full construction. Once the entire 319-km Hangzhou West-Wenzhou Railway is completed, direct travel between Hangzhou and Wenzhou will be shortened to one hour, making it the most convenient passenger corridor between the two cities. Hangzhou-Wenzhou same-city life is just around the corner.
