On the morning of February 24, Mayor Qiu Dongyao chaired the 123rd executive meeting of the municipal government, which reviewed and approved in principle the "Ningbo Expressway Network Plan (2021-2050)" and the "Ningbo Public Resource Trading Supervision and Administration Measures (Trial)".

　　The meeting noted that forward-looking planning of the expressway network and improvement of a comprehensive, three-dimensional transportation network that connects externally and flows smoothly internally are important measures for implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on building a country with strong transportation, and for proactively serving national strategies and the province's "Four Major" initiatives. They are also an urgent need for accelerating the building of a modern coastal metropolis and striving to be a pioneer city in socialist modernization.

　　The meeting emphasized that, proceeding from the reality of understanding the new development stage, implementing the new development philosophy, and building a new development pattern, efforts should be accelerated to build a city with strong transportation at a high level, focusing on enhancing corridor capacity, improving the port-dredging system, and strengthening regional connectivity, and planning the expressway network at a high level. Expressway construction should be carried out in a scientific and orderly manner, with priority given to expressways on external transport corridors, active expansion and upgrading of early-built and busy expressways, accelerated improvement of the port-dredging expressway transport system, and strengthened direct expressway connections and interoperability between adjacent districts and counties. At present, Ningbo's expressway network has fully taken shape in a "one ring and six radials" pattern, and construction of the "two rings and ten radials" road network is being comprehensively advanced. According to the plan, by 2035 Ningbo will have fully built an expressway network featuring "two rings and multiple radials, bay linkage and port dredging, convenience and efficiency, and smart integration", with the city's total expressway mileage open to traffic reaching 1,000 kilometers. By 2050, a modern expressway network will be fully built, with mileage open to traffic reaching 1,308 kilometers.
