1. A good start

　　The China-Russia East Route natural gas pipeline project starts at the China-Russia border in Heihe, Heilongjiang Province, and ends in Shanghai, with a total length of 5,111 km. It is approved in three sections—north, middle, and south—and constructed in phases. Among them, the north and middle sections, in which XCMG XZ13600 horizontal directional drills participated, were put into operation and gas supply in 2019 and at the end of 2020, respectively.

　　This crossing at the Hengshui Fuyang New River section is the first drilling of the south section of the China-Russia East Route natural gas pipeline construction! The pullback pipe has a diameter of 1,219 mm and a length of 1,272 m. With a large diameter and long distance, Mr. Zhang's job is not only a big job but also of great significance for winning the first battle and achieving a good start!


　　The reaming strata at the site are mostly silt and silty clay. According to on-site construction personnel, the XCMG XZ11000 can drill three to four drill rods per hour at the slowest and one drill rod in as fast as 5 minutes. During pullback, the pulling force is mostly around 300 tons. The pullback pipe has a diameter of 1,219 mm and a length of 1,272 m, and the whole process took 18 hours.

　　2. A thoughtful tool!

　　This participation in the China-Russia East Route natural gas pipeline construction is the first service of the XCMG XZ11000. What are its specific highlights?


　　High efficiency is a given, but the most important thing is that it is thoughtful. The first solid proof of "thoughtfulness": fuel savings. The XZ11000 horizontal directional drill is equipped with two engines working simultaneously, saving an average of 600 L of fuel per day. At current fuel prices, that's 3,000 yuan per day. In two or three days, the fuel savings could buy a square meter of housing in Xuzhou. The total construction duration of this crossing section was 40 days—how many square meters of housing did it save Mr. Zhang?


　　The second solid proof of "thoughtfulness": high efficiency. In the local hollow-layer strata, the XCMG horizontal directional drill drilled efficiently at a high speed of 32 m per minute. The estimated two-month construction period was completed in just 40 days. As a "new recruit," the XCMG XZ11000 is truly impressive!


　　The third solid proof of "thoughtfulness": peace of mind. During the more than 40 days of construction, the XCMG XZ11000 horizontal directional drill had no failures throughout the entire process.
