On February 1, the PPP project for the road construction of the Shenzhen Road extension section in the southern new district of Qixingguan District (Yangshan Tunnel) was officially opened to traffic.

The Yangshan Tunnel construction project is an urban main road, with its eastern starting point connecting to the already completed Shenzhen Road and its western endpoint connecting to Caohai Avenue. It has a total length of about 2.73 kilometers, a width of 40 meters, a design speed of 40 kilometers per hour, and six lanes in both directions. The project started construction in September 2018. Its construction content includes tunnels, roads, water supply and drainage, power, communications, lighting, landscaping, traffic safety, and related ancillary facility works, covering multi-disciplinary coordination and multi-system integration.

It is understood that this project is the first PPP project in Qixingguan District to be built using a government and social capital cooperation model. It introduced the central state-owned enterprise CISDI as the social capital party to carry out investment and construction, effectively alleviating the pressure on local fiscal funds and improving the efficiency of fund use as well as the efficiency of engineering construction and operation and maintenance.

After the project is completed and opened to traffic, it will greatly relieve traffic pressure at important traffic nodes such as Biyang Avenue and Guanmenshan Tunnel, effectively promote the normal operation of various basic urban functions in the southern new district, and achieve close connection between the central urban area and the surrounding road network. At the same time, the completion of the project is of great significance to realizing the urban expansion of the southern new district and the implementation of the Bijie-Dafang integration strategy.
