It was recently learned that Zhangjiakou City and the Provincial Department of Transport have strengthened coordination and alignment, reinforced element support, and advanced the service and support work for the Winter Olympics in an orderly and effective manner, having fully accomplished all set targets and tasks for last year. At present, all 10 transport infrastructure construction tasks in the Zhangjiakou Competition Zone of the Beijing Winter Olympics have been completed; among the Games service tasks, all 28 tasks for 2020 have been fully completed.
According to reports, all Winter Olympics transport projects in Hebei Province have now been completed according to schedule, with completion and handover acceptance carried out as required. All six highway projects in the competition zone have been completed and opened to traffic, and the relevant statutory approval procedures have also been processed; the Zhangjiakou Ningyuan Airport expansion and reconstruction project has been completed and opened to air traffic; the Zhangjiakou South Comprehensive Passenger Transport Hub (North Square) has been completed and put into use, and the Chongli Comprehensive Passenger Transport Hub (including the Chongli Passenger Transport Hub and the Taizicheng High-Speed Railway Station Passenger Transport Hub) has met the support requirements for test events.
Under the support and guidance of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Winter Olympics, relevant Hebei units have strengthened their working interface with the Beijing Municipal Transport Commission and other units to jointly advance transport service and support work for the Winter Olympics. The core area of the Zhangjiakou Competition Zone will use only hydrogen fuel clean energy vehicles; procurement of hydrogen fuel cell buses is currently proceeding in an orderly manner, with 200 vehicles already procured. The planned 100 hydrogen-fueled touring coaches have been confirmed. The entry and updating of driver information for the Zhangjiakou Competition Zone has been completed, and the information database is continuously adjusted according to changes in vehicle demand. The planning and design of temporary Winter Olympics depots and hydrogen refueling stations have been completed and have passed expert review. The three depots to be used for test events—Chongli South P+R, Qipanliang P+R, and Taizicheng T+R—have been completed and are ready for use. The Qipanliang hydrogen refueling station has been completed and is undergoing commissioning to ensure the energy needs of hydrogen-fueled vehicles during test events.
At the same time, construction of the Zhangjiakou sub-center of the Hebei Provincial Transport Comprehensive Operation Coordination and Emergency Command Center (TOCC) has been completed as planned and has begun trial operation, with information support services planned during the test events. Baidu Maps was invited to collect data on newly built roads and buildings in the core area of the Zhangjiakou Competition Zone, and this data is being incorporated into Baidu Maps. A computer simulation model has been built to simulate the transport plan during the Games, and the plan has been revised based on the simulation data. The first draft of the overall transport support plan for the Games has been completed and is being refined according to variables. The "Hebei Province Highway Smooth Traffic Work Plan for Ice and Snow Weather" has been issued, and the Yanchong, Zhangcheng, and Jingzhang expressways have completed snow removal operation plans for their respective sections. Relevant provincially managed expressway units have carried out language, etiquette, and snow removal skills training, training more than 1,700 person-times in total; Zhangjiakou City has carried out driver training for more than 35,000 person-times.
