On January 29, the fourth shield TBM "Yuehai No. 25" was successfully launched on Section A6 of the Pearl River Delta Water Resources Allocation Project. To date, Section A6 has completed the launch of all four shield TBMs across the two lines of two working shafts.

Working Shaft GZ13 has two shield tunneling lines. "Yuehai No. 25" is an earth pressure balance shield machine on the right line, with a cutterhead diameter of 6.28 meters. The tunneling direction is from east to west, from Working Shaft GZ13 to Working Shaft GZ12, with a total section length of 2,548.49 meters. It will pass beneath a large number of residential buildings, factories, farmland and other structures and buildings, in areas with dense surface populations, making construction highly difficult.

As Working Shaft GZ13 is the last working shaft in Section A6 to complete main structure construction, in order to successfully achieve the milestone target of launching "Yuehai No. 25," the project department optimized and integrated resources, adjusted personnel allocation, carefully organized and planned, and implemented a shift system to ensure 24-hour construction. Within 28 days, all preparatory work for "Yuehai No. 25" was completed, from shield TBM entry, installation, lowering into the shaft, to commissioning and readiness for launch. Each process was scheduled with tight coordination while remaining orderly, ensuring the shield TBM was launched on schedule.

Previously, another shield TBM on the left line of Working Shaft GZ13, "Yuehai No. 24," was successfully launched on January 6 and has now advanced 26.6 meters. The successful launch and tunneling of the two shield TBMs have strengthened confidence for the project to embark on a new journey in 2021.
