Recently, the "Yuehai No. 37" tunnel boring machine on Section B3 of the Pearl River Delta Water Resources Allocation Project set a new record of 10 rings (16 meters) in a single shift and 18 rings (28.8 meters) in one day.

"Yuehai No. 37" is a slurry shield machine with an excavation diameter of 8.65 meters. The shield-driven section is 3,196 meters long, and the rock and soil mass of the tunnel body in this section consists of weakly weathered argillaceous siltstone. It passes beneath the Shiziyang waterway and crosses multiple fault fracture zones, and the geological conditions are complex. To ensure smooth and rapid tunneling by the shield machine, the project overcame difficulties such as insufficient site area for split launching, muck accumulation in the chamber, and cutterhead management through advance decision-making, optimization of the construction plan, and expert meetings. Continuous summarization and improvement during the process greatly increased construction efficiency.

Up to now, "Yuehai No. 37" has tunneled 600 meters. Next, the project will plan construction arrangements in advance according to local epidemic prevention and control policies, reasonably adjust resource allocation, firmly grasp production safety and epidemic prevention and control without relaxation, continue to maintain stable and high output, and embark on a new journey in the project's construction.
