On January 28, the reception of the rectangular pipe jacking tunnel on the west line of the platform level in Zone B of the main structure of Jing'an Temple Station on Line 14, constructed by Shanghai Tunnel Engineering, was completed, and the west line (upbound) platform tunnel at Jing'an Temple Station on Line 14 was holed through. At this point, both the east line (downbound) and west line (upbound) platform tunnels at Jing'an Temple Station have been holed through. This also marks the full completion of the main works of Line 14.

Jing'an Temple Station on Section 9 of Line 14 was implemented using a combination of traditional methods and innovative techniques. The entire main structure of the station is divided into three construction zones (Zones A, B, and C). Because the station runs along Huashan Road and passes beneath the Yan'an Road Elevated Highway, Zones A and C were constructed using the half-width covered excavation method, while Zone B was constructed using the pipe jacking method of subsurface excavation. It will become Shanghai's first metro station with platforms inside tunnels and the first with separated (partial) platforms. At the same time, Zones A and C serve as the launching shafts for pipe jacking construction.

Zone B consists of three rectangular pipe jacking tunnels: the east line platform tunnel (downbound platform tunnel), the west line platform tunnel (upbound platform tunnel), and the concourse level tunnel, each 82 m long. In late January 2020, the east line platform tunnel (downbound platform tunnel) was holed through.

In the next stage, jacking construction of the concourse tunnel will begin.
