On January 28, the first shield machine 'Zhuoyue' for the Phase II project of Chengdu Rail Transit Line 17 was successfully launched from Gaohong Station, marking the start of shield tunneling on this line.

The Phase II project of Line 17 starts from Jitouqiao Station and ends at Gaohong Station, with a total length of about 24.8 kilometers and 18 stations. It is planned to use 22 shield machines with a diameter of 8.6 meters. The shield tunneling will pass under existing buildings and structures, existing railways, metro lines, important municipal bridges, tunnels, major pipelines and other risk sources for many times, making construction highly difficult. According to the deputy director of the Civil Engineering Department of Chengdu Rail Construction Management Co., Ltd., the 'Zhuoyue' shield machine unveiled this time will mainly undertake the tunneling task of the section from Gaohong Station to Weiling Station. The section is about 1,206 meters long and mainly passes through mudstone strata. The shield machine will also pass under structures such as railways and major municipal rainwater and sewage pipes.
