On January 22, the left tube of the Cuiyunshan Extra-Long Tunnel on the Yanchong Expressway Extension Project was holed through, marking the successful completion of double-tube breakthrough for Hebei's longest tunnel. This signifies that the last controlling works of the Yanchong Expressway Extension Project have achieved a decisive result, laying a solid foundation for the early completion and opening of the extension project in 2021.

　　It is reported that the Cuiyunshan Extra-Long Tunnel has a total length of 8.4 kilometers and is the longest expressway tunnel in Hebei Province. The Cuiyunshan Extra-Long Tunnel was jointly constructed by Sichuan Road & Bridge under the Yanchong Expressway Y1 contract section and China Railway Tunnel Group under the Yanchong Expressway Y2 contract section.

　　On the basis of effective epidemic prevention and control, the Yanchong Construction Preparation Office of Hebei Provincial Expressway concentrated high-quality management resources, strictly managed project safety, quality and progress, organized labor competitions, intensified assessment and reward/punishment efforts, mobilized the construction enthusiasm of participating personnel, and made every effort to advance project construction according to plan.

　　Since construction began in May 2019, all participating units, while ensuring safety and quality, adopted the inclined shaft plus branch tunnel method to increase working faces, raising the number of construction faces from 12 to 20, and went all out to advance the Cuiyunshan Tunnel project. As a result, the tunnel breakthrough was completed in 20 months, 6 months shorter than the original plan, achieving the excavation task of the longest tunnel in the shortest time.

　　At the same time, the Cuiyunshan Extra-Long Tunnel passes beneath a national key public welfare forest reserve, placing high demands on green ecological and environmental protection. By building green corridors and adopting fence isolation and other measures, damage to the surrounding environment was minimized to the greatest extent; the tunnel adopted early portal entry and late portal exit and mechanized construction to protect the surrounding ecological environment to the maximum extent, ensuring the green mountains and clear waters of the area.

　　It is understood that next, the Yanchong Construction Preparation Office will organize all participating units of the extension project and the Chicheng branch line to accelerate the construction of remaining works and strive to complete the task of opening to traffic this year ahead of schedule. At the same time, the Yanchong Construction Preparation Office will do a good job in mainline operation management and Winter Olympics service support work, making the greatest contribution to a steady start of the "14th Five-Year Plan" and the Beijing Winter Olympics!
