On the morning of January 15, construction began on the Xiangluzhou Bridge in Wangcheng District, Changsha, which is scheduled to be completed and opened to traffic by the end of 2023.

The Xiangluzhou Bridge is the first bridge over the Xiangjiang River designed to Class I waterway standards and is the largest single-tower cable-stayed bridge spanning the Xiangjiang River. Its 202-meter tower height is the tallest among Changsha's river-crossing bridges. The project involves a total investment of approximately 2.71 billion yuan, and the construction unit is Changsha Wangcheng Riverside Construction and Development Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Wangcheng District Urban Investment Group. The main line of the project is about 3.24 kilometers long, with ramps about 3.85 kilometers long; it has six lanes in both directions and a design speed of 60 kilometers per hour.

Wangcheng District is the only urban district in Changsha that straddles both banks of the Xiangjiang River and has 35 kilometers of riverside resources. Of the 26 Xiangjiang River crossings planned and under construction in Changsha, 8 are planned within Wangcheng District, and 4 have been completed. From south to north, they are the Sanchaji Bridge, the Third Ring Road, the Hangdian Hub Bridge, and the Beijing-Zhuhai Double-Track Bridge. The Xiangluzhou Bridge is the district's fifth river crossing, 9.3 kilometers south of the Sanchaji Bridge and 8.4 kilometers north of the Xiangjiang Navigation-Power Hub, connecting Dingziwan Subdistrict and Dazehu Subdistrict in Wangcheng District from east to west. Once completed, the bridge will further promote the formation of a urban development pattern in Wangcheng District in which "both banks of the river advance together and the east and west banks develop in a coordinated way," and will accelerate the formation of the Meixihu-Xiangyin major transportation corridor.
