Recently, the left-line shield of the Tiaoxi Station to No. 1 Ventilation Shaft section of Section 1 of the Hangzhou Airport Rail Express Line undertaken by the Rail Company was successfully launched. The project uses a 7.18-meter-diameter composite earth pressure balance shield machine for excavation. The section needs to pass beneath or alongside buildings (structures) multiple times, and the overall stratum stability of the section is poor. The project department organized several seminars to optimize the construction plan and researched and formulated multiple special plans, including entry and exit of the shaft, installation and dismantling of the gantry crane, reinforcement of the reaction frame, end reinforcement, and opening the chamber for cutter replacement. By estimating risks, conducting advance drills, and performing multiple debugging procedures, the safe launch of the shield was successfully achieved.
