At 08:18 on January 13, as the cutterhead of the "Qinlong No. 3" shield machine slowly began to rotate, the right-line shield of the Weiting Station–Yangchenghu South Station section on Suzhou S1 Line Bid 1 was successfully launched.

The right line of the Weiting Station–Yangchenghu South Station section has a total length of 1,569.658 meters. It starts from the west end of Yangchenghu South Station and, along a 380 m radius horizontal curve, passes beneath Yangchenghuan Road, two DN1800 high-pressure water mains and the planned G312 tunnel, then runs beneath the Sima Jing River along the riverbed, with some sections passing beneath the Caoxieshan site. It passes beneath the Danyang–Kunshan Grand Bridge section of the Beijing–Shanghai High-Speed Railway on a 700 m radius curve, passes beneath the Sima Jing River box culvert bridge, passes alongside a 220 kV high-voltage transmission tower, then along a 370 m radius horizontal curve passes beneath the subgrade section of the Shanghai–Nanjing Expressway and a Φ1016 West–East Gas Pipeline high-pressure gas pipeline, passes alongside the Tingdong 110 kV substation, and follows Fengting Avenue to the east end of Weiting Station.

To ensure the smooth launch of the shield, the project department planned ahead, organized scientifically and made meticulous arrangements. It established a special leading group for shield launching, strengthened safety management, formulated a safe and efficient launching plan, and orderly completed work including shield hoisting and lowering into the shaft, installation and commissioning, review of the construction plan, and acceptance of launching conditions.

In the subsequent construction process, the project department will strengthen monitoring of surrounding buildings and structures, strictly control shield driving parameters, ensure the safety of shield construction, and make every effort to complete the construction tasks on schedule with guaranteed quality and quantity.
