On January 11, the left tube of the Guiling Tunnel on the Pubei–Beiliu Qingwan Expressway was successfully holed through. This is another major tunnel breakthrough following the Gaoshangdu Tunnel on the Puqing Expressway on January 4, and the second tunnel breakthrough on the Puqing Expressway.

It is understood that the Guiling Tunnel is located in Huangling Town, Bobai County. The left tube has a total length of 905 meters, a design driving speed of 120 km/h, a clear width of 11.5 meters and a clear height of 5 meters. It is a separated double-tube tunnel. Construction started in early July 2019 and was scheduled to be holed through by the end of January 2021.

Since construction began, the Project Department of Section V of the Puqing Expressway has optimized the lining types and construction techniques, solving construction difficulties such as asymmetric loading at the portal section, shallow cover, and extremely broken surrounding rock with well-developed joints and fissures. Through the unremitting efforts of all construction workers over 493 working days, the left tube of the Guiling Tunnel was successfully holed through 20 days ahead of the original schedule, laying the foundation for the comprehensive, efficient and rapid advancement of the Puqing Expressway.
