On the morning of January 10, inside the shield receiving shaft at Yingcai Street Station in Section 02 of Phase I of Zhengzhou Rail Transit Line 7, amid a rumbling roar, the "Zhuoyue No. 2" shield machine with its giant cutterhead spinning broke through the wall, and the right line of the section from Huanghe Yingbinguan Station to Yingcai Street Station was successfully holed through, becoming the first shield tunnel section in Phase I of Line 7 to achieve double-line breakthrough.

Phase I of Zhengzhou Metro Line 7 has a total length of 26.81 kilometers and comprises 20 stations, passing through three major districts of Zhengzhou—Huiji District, Jinshui District and Erqi District—starting at Dongzhao Station and ending at Houzhai Station. The construction and production task for Section 02 of Phase I of Zhengzhou Metro Line 7 undertaken by China Railway Seventh Group Co., Ltd. has a total line length of 4.615 kilometers. The shield tunnel section from Huanghe Yingbinguan Station to Yingcai Street Station that broke through this time is divided into left and right line sections; the left line section is 751 meters long, launched on August 30, 2020 and holed through on December 18; the right line section that broke through this time is 758 meters long and was launched on September 30, 2020.

Huanghe Yingbinguan Station is an interchange station between Line 2 and Phase I of Line 7. The portal of the launch section is located on the lowest level of the interchange area on the third basement floor of the Line 2 station. During construction, the shield had to pass beneath the operating Metro Line 2, and the stratum there is a water-rich silty fine sand layer with complex surrounding pipelines, posing extremely high safety risks and constituting a Level 1 risk source. Zhengzhou Metro Group Co., Ltd. and the Zhengzhou Metro Section 02 Project Department of China Railway Seventh Group Co., Ltd., aiming to "turn difficulties into highlights," relying on the "Fight the Epidemic, Ensure Growth, Work Hard for a Hundred Days" campaign, and taking the "Party Members Offer Suggestions for Strong Breakthroughs" activity as a lever, carried out a shield launch breakthrough, adopting "freezing method" reinforcement to provide safety assurance for the shield machine's launch and portal breakthrough, effectively reducing the safety risks of shield launch and successfully achieving double-line breakthrough.

Zhengzhou Metro Line 7 is positioned as an encryption line for Zhengzhou's central urban area. Phase I runs north-south through the main urban area and is an important transportation corridor covering the east-west north-south development axis. The line closely connects each cluster within the main urban area with the city's core area, playing a positive role in expanding the radiation range of Zhengzhou's main urban area and promoting the integrated development of urban and rural areas. Zhengzhou Metro Group will join hands with all participating units, adhere to the original aspiration of "building the metro well for the people," shoulder the mission that "the metro makes urban life better," advance rail transit construction in a more vigorous, orderly and effective manner, and accelerate the building of a "city on rails" to lead the optimization of urban structure and quality improvement of development.
