At 7 p.m. on January 9, 2021, the main span of the main bridge was closed at the construction site of the Yanpingba Yangtze River Bridge in Sanjiang New Area, Yibin, Sichuan Province.

It is reported that the Yanpingba Yangtze River Bridge is currently the largest bridge among the existing and under-construction highway bridges in Yibin. The bridge is 40 meters wide and has eight lanes in both directions. Its cable tower adopts the "Fish Leaping over the Yangtze" design, the first of its kind in China. It is 183 meters high, equivalent to a 60-story building, and the entire bridge has a unique and beautiful appearance.

It is understood that after the bridge is closed, the upper crossbeam of the bridge tower and the tower crown will be installed, so that the entire bridge will have the "Fish Leaping over the Yangtze" shape.

As one of the 17 river crossings on the main channel of the Yangtze River in Sichuan planned in the "Layout Plan for Yangtze River Trunk Crossing Channels (2013-2020)", the Yanpingba Yangtze River Bridge is also an important river-crossing node project on the inner ring road of Yibin City. Once completed, the project will effectively improve traffic conditions between the Lingang Economic and Technological Development Zone and the main urban area, strengthen the radiating role of the main urban area in the Lingang Economic and Technological Development Zone, and inject new momentum into the next stage of development of the Lingang Economic and Technological Development Zone.
