Qin Taihong, Chairman of Henan Taihong Group

　　“Cold rain mingles with the river, entering Wu at night; at dawn I see off my guest, lonely is the Chu mountain. If relatives and friends in Luoyang ask about me, tell them my heart is as pure as ice in a jade vase.” This famous poem by Wang Changling of the Tang Dynasty is also a true portrayal of Qin Taihong's life.

　　No Pain, No Gain

　　Qin Taihong was born in September 1965 in Linzhou City, Henan Province. In the early 1980s, at the age of 18, Qin Taihong left the mountains and started as a grassroots construction worker, step by step founding his own enterprise. After more than 20 years of arduous entrepreneurship, Qin Taihong has become the Chairman of Taihong Group. Taihong Group is a comprehensive group enterprise integrating real estate development, building construction, fire protection installation, decoration, property management, landscaping, and other diversified operations. Among them, Henan Taihong Housing Construction Co., Ltd. is a national special-grade qualification enterprise for general contracting of housing construction projects. In 1996, the company received the Luban Prize, the highest award in the construction industry issued by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. The company has been rated as one of the Top 50 Construction Enterprises in Henan Province for comprehensive strength for several consecutive years. The company has also received honorary titles such as Advanced Construction Enterprise of the Province and City, Advanced Quality Management Enterprise of the Province and City, and Advanced Unit for Safety Production and Civilized Construction Management of the Province and City. Since 1999, Taihong Real Estate Company has been continuously rated as an Advanced Real Estate Development Enterprise, one of the Top 50 Real Estate Development Enterprises in Henan Province for comprehensive strength, one of the Top 20 Real Estate Enterprises in Central Plains, one of the Top Ten City Operators in Henan, and a Famous Chinese Real Estate Enterprise. Its representative project, Sunshine New City, was awarded the 2005 CIHAF China Famous Property and the 2005 China Best Landscape Award at the 2005 China Housing and Real Estate Fair and the China International Real Estate Exhibition, respectively. Sunshine Jiayuan, as a model project of affordable housing in Zhengzhou, was rated as a National Healthy Housing Demonstration Community by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. Qin Taihong himself has also received certain honors. He has been rated as an Advanced Individual by the Provincial Department of Construction for several consecutive years. In 2003, he was rated as one of the Top Ten Influential Figures in Central Plains Real Estate by the Science and Technology Development Center of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. In 2004, he was awarded as an Outstanding Member of the CPPCC. In 2005, he was named one of the Top Ten Meritorious Figures in Central Plains Real Estate. In 2006, he was rated as one of the Top 100 Chinese Real Estate Figures by the China Housing and Real Estate Fair. In April 2007, he was rated as a Model Worker of Anyang City. In 2008, he received the National Guangcai Enterprise Award and the title of Advanced Individual in Earthquake Relief. In 2009, he was rated as a Model Worker of Henan Province.

　　Sharing the Nation's Burden and Giving Back to Society

　　The most important sign of social harmony is that every member of society can earn from their work and have a home. Therefore, Taihong Group has always regarded creating value and giving back to society as its corporate mission, and Qin Taihong himself never forgets the social responsibility he bears as a member of the Provincial CPPCC.

　　In July 2007, moderate to heavy rain fell in the central and western regions of Henan Province, with local heavy rainstorms and extraordinary rainstorms. Sanmenxia, Luoyang, Nanyang and other cities suffered severe floods, with Lushi County being the worst hit. The disaster in western Henan concerned leaders at all levels of the Party and government and all sectors of society. Qin Taihong was extremely anxious upon learning of the disaster. At the Henan Provincial Party Committee's emergency rescue and disaster relief work conference, he donated 700,000 yuan to the disaster area on behalf of the group through various means, and was highly praised by Henan Provincial Party Secretary Xu Guangchun and other leaders. In May 2007, on behalf of Taihong Group, he donated 300,000 yuan to Shuangmiao Village in Zhecheng County for the village's infrastructure construction. Qin Taihong was very anxious when he saw children in his hometown Linzhou dropping out of school due to poverty. At the Guangcai Enterprise Donation Ceremony of the Thousand Enterprises Helping Thousand Villages campaign organized by the Provincial Federation of Industry and Commerce, he donated 2 million yuan to establish the Linzhou Taihong Guangcai Primary School. At the same time, he also sponsored a group of outstanding poor students admitted to key universities such as Peking University and Tsinghua University with 5,000 yuan each.

　　Actively Participating in Sichuan's Post-Disaster Reconstruction

　　After the Wenchuan earthquake in Sichuan, Qin Taihong donated to the disaster area at the first opportunity and called on the group company, provincial and domestic (subsidiary) companies, and project departments to actively donate. The group company and its affiliated companies donated nearly 500,000 yuan to the disaster area. Subsequently, Qin Taihong issued an assembly order to establish a leading group for assisting the construction of transitional resettlement housing in the Sichuan disaster area within the group company. He himself served as the leader of the assistance group and determined the list of the first batch of assistance teams composed of 120 skilled workers. After the assistance team arrived, Qin Taihong closely followed the construction progress at the front and required front-line staff to report to him three times a day. At 2 a.m. on May 25, he received a report from the front command that some tents had been damaged due to heavy rain. Upon learning this, Qin Taihong held a work meeting overnight, promptly organized personnel to purchase rainproof tents, and required them to be delivered to the assistance point within two days. On May 30, after coordinating rear work, Qin Taihong hurried to the resettlement point assisted by the group company. As soon as he got off the plane, despite the fatigue of the journey, he immediately went deep into the company's assistance point in Huagai Village, An County. During a break in work, he convened everyone for a temporary Party member meeting in front of the assisted rice fields, requiring Party members to take the lead and demonstrate their enthusiasm and progressiveness at critical moments. In the evening, he worked late into the night with the workers. He said: ”As a member of the Provincial CPPCC, one must always bear a grateful heart, shoulder due responsibilities, and step forward when the people in the disaster area need it most.“

　　During the assistance period, Qin Taihong rushed to the Sichuan assistance command three times. In this assistance work, the group company built a total of 132 prefabricated classrooms for a middle school, 623 resettlement housing units, and one public toilet. After completing the assistance task for An County, Qin Taihong quickly devoted himself to the assistance work for Jiangyou City. The group company built more than 500 transitional resettlement housing units, including residences and schools, for the disaster area in Jiangyou City. Qin Taihong and the Taihong Group assistance team were commended by the local governments at all levels in An County and Jiangyou City, as well as by the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, the Henan Provincial Department of Construction, and the Zhengzhou Municipal Construction Commission.

　　Since the company's establishment, Qin Taihong has donated more than 10 million yuan on behalf of the group to Maozhuang Primary School in Huiji District, Henan; road construction in Xingyang; Jinshui Riverside Park in Zhengzhou; Zhengzhou Jinshui District No. 75 Middle School; Miaoli Middle School in Jinshui District; rural education construction in Linzhou City; rural drinking water projects in Linzhou City; and the Hongqi Canal water replenishment project, among others.
