Investment of approximately 11.66 billion yuan! Recently, a Guangzhou Metro consortium "teamed up" to win the bid for the B part PPP project of Changsha Rail Transit Line 6. This is the first time Guangzhou Metro Group has won a rail transit PPP project as the lead social capital party.

　　"The project has a total length of about 48.11 kilometers and is a 'city window' line for Changsha. The project is implemented using the A+B (split) model. We are leading the investment and construction of equipment assets such as vehicles, tracks, signals, and automatic fare collection systems, as well as the operation and maintenance of the entire line and advertising, communications, and commercial operations along the line. The operation period is 25 years," introduced a relevant person in charge of Guangzhou Metro Group.

　　This is already the third time in a year that Guangzhou Metro has won a domestic rail transit project. Previously, consortia involving Guangzhou Metro Group successfully won the PPP projects for Nanchang Metro Line 3 and Chongqing Metro Line 4. At the beginning of this year, the radiation capacity of Guangzhou's rail transit industry extended from domestic to international for the first time, responsible for the operation and maintenance services of the Orange Line of Lahore Rail Transit in Pakistan.

　　Data shows that Guangzhou Metro's network mileage reached 515 kilometers in 2019, with total passenger traffic of 3.306 billion person-times. According to data published by the International Association of Public Transport in 2019, among 38 large metro enterprises worldwide, Guangzhou Metro ranks leading in multiple key operational indicators, including first in operational safety performance and punctuality rate, and also ranks high in service reliability and capacity utilization. Currently, Guangzhou Metro has 12 metro projects under construction, totaling more than 300 kilometers. It is expected that by 2023, Guangzhou Metro's operating mileage will reach 800 kilometers.

　　"Taking big strides to 'go global' is due to our own construction and operation experience, and also inseparable from the 'grouping' of Guangzhou's rail transit industry chain," said a relevant person in charge of Guangzhou Metro Group. In 2017, Guangzhou Metro Group jointly initiated the establishment of the Guangzhou Rail Transit Industry Alliance, driving associated enterprises such as PCI-Suntek, Guangri Elevator, Hanwei Technology, Guangzhou Urban Rail Training College, Guangzhou Rail Transit Construction Supervision Company, and Guangzhou Zhongzi Urban Rail Engineering Consulting Company to expand collaboratively.

　　"Going global" for group development also requires "bringing in" to make up for shortcomings. Currently, the industry alliance has established a database of advanced enterprises in 23 specialized fields, and together with the Municipal Development and Reform Commission and other units, vigorously promotes high-value-added enterprises such as vehicle equipment and information communications to settle in Guangzhou, filling development gaps. Up to now, the industry alliance has gathered 79 member units, covering the entire industry chain including planning and design, construction, equipment manufacturing, operation, and value-added services, greatly enhancing the core competitiveness of Guangzhou's entire rail transit industry chain.

　　The growth and strengthening of the industry chain cannot be separated from talent support. It is understood that the joint training mechanism established by Guangzhou Metro National Engineering Laboratory and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is actively operating, jointly training doctoral students in directions such as demand forecasting and planning of urban agglomeration transportation systems based on big data, artificial intelligence rail transit operation management, and comprehensive traffic information sharing and multi-mode coupling, providing strong talent and intellectual support for the development of Guangzhou's rail transit industry.
