At around 8 a.m. on December 27, the pouring of the 151.4-meter super-long bored pile for the Bianyuzhou Yangtze River Bridge on the Anjiu Railway was completed. It is reported to be the deepest pile foundation under karst geological conditions in the Yangtze River Basin.

Located at the junction of Huangmei County in Huanggang City and Jiujiang City in Jiangxi Province, the Bianyuzhou Yangtze River Bridge is a key controlling project of the Anjiu Railway and a cross-river passage for the Beijing-Kowloon and Hefei-Kowloon passenger dedicated lines. Construction began on November 15, 2017, with a construction period of five years. With a total length of 3.537 kilometers, it is China's first hybrid cable-stayed bridge with crossed cables designed for a speed of 350 kilometers per hour, comprising a 672-meter main navigation channel bridge and a 140-meter single-tower cable-stayed north branch channel bridge, the largest of its kind in China.

According to the person in charge of the project department of China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group, the bridge site features complex geology, high bedrock strength, and bead-like large karst caves deep underground. To ensure the quality of pile foundation construction, the project department designed all 15 pile foundations to pass through the karst caves, and adopted measures such as pre-grouting for karst treatment during construction. Pile No. 10, completed yesterday, is 151.4 meters deep and is the deepest pile foundation under karst geological conditions in the Yangtze River Basin. During construction, 596 cubic meters of concrete were poured within seven hours.

Once completed, the Anjiu Railway will promote foreign trade exchanges in the Dabie Mountain area and greatly boost the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
