The reporter learned from the 'Shenzhen Urban Rail Transit Phase IV Construction Plan Adjustment (2017—2022)' recently released on the website of the Shenzhen Municipal Development and Reform Commission that the south extension of Metro Line 16, which passes through Yuanshan Subdistrict, has been included in the plan. This means that Metro Line 16 is expected to start construction in the near future. Moreover, the south extension of Metro Line 16 has reserved stations at Dakang and Anliang, which will bring huge benefits to the development of this area.

It is understood that the south extension of Line 16 is entirely located within Yuanshan. It was not originally included in the Phase IV revision, and the original plan had already completed all approval procedures in accordance with the procedures and completed the public announcement. Through the active efforts of Shenzhen municipal and district leaders and the strong support and coordination of relevant departments, the south extension of Line 16 was ultimately included in the Phase IV revision and a supplementary public announcement was made. This means that this line, originally planned to start construction after 2030, will begin construction in the near future. This good news has been praised by cadres, staff, and residents of Yuanshan.

In this regard, Zhang Chunjie, Chairman of Shenzhen New Urban Planning and Construction Co., Ltd., stated that from the overall perspective of the city's rail transit planning, the reserved stations at Dakang and Anliang on Metro Line 16 serve the Apollo Industrial Park. Next, Shenzhen's rail transit layout should consider further connectivity and penetration. Through the renovation of the composite corridor of the Pingnan-Pingyan Railway, Bao'an District, Pinghu Hub, Apollo Industrial Zone, Universiade New Town Area, and Pingshan Central Area should be connected. He also proposed that under the background of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Shenzhen's eastern part still lacks a comprehensive hub. Currently, the Universiade Software Town area within Yuanshan Subdistrict has the most favorable conditions, not only possessing the Universiade comprehensive hub but also having certain industrial and scientific research support. He hopes that Shenzhen municipal and district authorities will plan and layout in advance.
