On August 22, the natural gas supporting project for the core area of Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport, undertaken by Qingdao Energy Group, was completed and began supplying gas. This is Qingdao's first project to route a gas pipeline into a utility tunnel, laying a solid foundation for clean energy infrastructure in the area. The natural gas supporting project for the core area of Jiaodong International Airport involves a total investment of nearly 90 million yuan. It mainly includes the construction of more than 20 kilometers of new medium-pressure natural gas pipeline networks, the relocation and construction of about 8 kilometers of high-pressure natural gas pipelines, and the construction of two high- and medium-pressure natural gas regulating and metering stations. It adopts a three-source gas supply guarantee to comprehensively build a clean energy demonstration base. At present, the first-phase supporting project has fully passed acceptance and will first supply gas to the airport group office building.

On the morning of the 22nd, at a construction site near Jiaodong International Airport, the reporter saw a high- and medium-pressure natural gas regulating station being put into use. According to construction workers, after high-pressure natural gas is transported over long distances, it needs to be filtered, metered, and regulated at this station. Only after debugging and conversion to medium pressure can suitable natural gas be delivered to Jiaodong Airport. The workers here are mainly responsible for inspecting for gas leaks and maintaining equipment, and handling any leak points promptly if found.

According to construction personnel, the utility tunnel is an important infrastructure in modern urban construction and represents the development direction of municipal pipeline construction. The Jiaodong International Airport gas project marks the first time an island-city gas pipeline has entered a utility tunnel. A dedicated gas pipe compartment, about 5 kilometers long, has been built inside the tunnel to connect important gas consumption points in the terminal area and the working area. It is the first dedicated gas pipe compartment completed and put into operation in Shandong Province. The establishment of a dedicated gas pipe compartment offers advantages such as fast and convenient patrol, maintenance, and repair, avoids the drawbacks of road excavation for pipeline repairs, can effectively improve the modernized operation level of municipal facilities, and serves as a good demonstration and driving force for promoting the entry of gas pipelines into tunnels throughout the city in the future.
To ensure gas source security for key projects, Qingdao Energy Group has built a natural gas receiving gate station in Madian, Jiaozhou, that simultaneously receives gas from both PetroChina and Sinopec, with a designed annual receiving capacity of 5 billion cubic meters. It has also reserved a gas transmission valve for the new airport area on the Dongjiakou LNG high-pressure natural gas pipeline, with a maximum gas supply capacity of 1.5 million standard cubic meters per day, fully meeting the future natural gas demand of the Jiaodong International Airport area.
Adhering to the concept of green development, Qingdao Energy Huarun Gas Company and Qingdao International Airport Group and other units have established an airport new energy company to build a regional natural gas energy center within the Jiaodong International Airport planning area, meet the energy needs of the airport and surrounding areas, actively create a national demonstration base for comprehensive utilization of natural gas clean energy, and promote the development of new-old kinetic energy conversion in the new energy field.
