On August 19, 2018, with the completion of the final roof slab concrete pour, the main structure of Citizen Health Center Station on the Qingdao Metro Line 8 project was successfully topped out, making it the second underground station among the line's 18 stations to complete its roof structure.
Citizen Health Center Station is located beneath Shuangji Road (G228) in the Hongdao High-tech Zone, with a total length of 212 m and a standard section width of 19.8 m. The standard section of the station has a foundation pit depth of 17.11 m, and the enlarged end has a foundation pit depth of 18.36 m. It is a two-level underground island-platform station, constructed by the cut-and-cover method using a double-span rectangular cast-in-place underground frame structure. The sections at both ends of the station are constructed by the shield method. As the bidirectional shield launching station for the Hongdao Railway Station–Citizen Health Center Station section and the Citizen Health Center Station–Citizen Fitness Center Station section, the station undertakes the launching tasks of four shield machines and is a key node in the construction of the two sections. The station is in a special location, making construction land acquisition and traffic diversion difficult; there are many surrounding pipelines, complex geological conditions, and it is situated in a coastal marsh area with confined groundwater and highly corrosive strata. The excavation of the station's main foundation pit and waterproofing and anti-corrosion work are major difficulties of the project.
Facing these difficulties, all participating parties rose to the challenge, planned ahead, took the initiative, and tackled the hard problems. They adopted a series of effective measures to fully ensure the safe and efficient construction of the station, successfully overcoming difficulties such as preliminary coordination, a narrow site, complex processes, and raw material supply, and completed the construction of the station's main structure on schedule.
After Metro Line 8 is completed and put into operation, it will provide great convenience for citizens traveling to the Citizen Health Center. It is reported that the Citizen Health Center is planned as a large medical center and medical industrial park integrating medical treatment, rehabilitation, and elderly care. It will not only provide medical services but also offer health management services to citizens.
At present, apart from Yanjiashan Station and Cangkou Station, 16 of the 18 stations on Line 8 have started construction, of which 3 stations have completed main structure construction; 16 of the 17 sections have started construction, of which 75% of the elevated section bridges have been completed.
