On March 1, it was learned from the Sanming Municipal Development and Reform Commission that the urban rail transit network planning work in Sanming City has been fully launched. At present, the bidding, bid evaluation and public announcement of the network planning have been completed, and the planning compilation unit has been determined.
The Sanming rail transit focuses on the route from Shaxian Airport via the North High-Speed Railway Station and the South High-Speed Railway Station to Yong'an South Station, with a total length of about 82 kilometers. The network planning compilation work is scheduled to be completed in October 2018.
According to the Sanming City "13th Five-Year Plan" Special Plan for Comprehensive Transportation Development, in the next five years, Sanming City will achieve railway access in every county, express delivery access in every village, passenger and freight transport hubs covering all counties (cities and districts), full coverage of bus stops within 500 meters in the central urban area, and the goal of a half-hour transportation circle among Sanming, Shaxian and Yong'an.
An urban rail transit system refers to a transportation system in which vehicles run on fixed guideways in cities and which is mainly used for urban passenger transport. It generally includes subways, light rail and monorail, as well as modern trams.
