At 10 a.m. on February 28, construction of the Beijing-Xiongan New Area Intercity Railway officially began.
The railway starts from Liying Station on the Beijing-Kowloon Railway, passes through Beijing's Daxing District, the new Beijing airport, and Bazhou City, and ends at Xiongan New Area. The main line has a total length of 92.4 kilometers, with 5 stations and a total investment of approximately 33.53 billion yuan.
Among these, the section from Liying to the new Beijing airport within Beijing's urban area is designed for a speed of 250 kilometers per hour and will open for use in September 2019 in sync with the new airport; the section from the new Beijing airport to Xiongan New Area is designed for a speed of 350 kilometers per hour. The international bidding and evaluation for the Xiongan Station hub has been completed, and the section from the new airport to Xiongan will be put into use by the end of 2020. After the railway opens to traffic, Beijing's urban area and Xiongan New Area will be connected in half an hour.
