Major transportation projects are pressing ahead without pause, with key construction nodes advancing rapidly even during the Spring Festival holiday. Reporters learned from Zhuhai Transportation Group that major transportation projects in Zhuhai, including the Honghe Bridge and Xianghai Bridge, are progressing smoothly. Among them, the Honghe Bridge has just completed pouring the first main pile cap on the entire line. For a bridge that sets a new record for the span of cable-stayed bridges in Zhuhai, this is a milestone of great significance.

Main bridge design sets new Zhuhai cable-stayed bridge span record
The main bridge of the Honghe Bridge (crossing the Hongwan Waterway and the Modaomen main navigation channel) consists of two cable-stayed bridges with a main span of 500 meters each, setting a new record for the span of cable-stayed bridges in Zhuhai. Pier No. 8 of Section 2 of the Honghe Bridge began pile cap pouring before the Spring Festival. Above the pile cap, a main tower more than 160 meters tall will be built, making this pile cap extremely critical. Supporting such a large main tower places very high demands on the durability of the pile cap. According to project chief engineer Yang Bincai, to ensure the quality of pile cap concrete construction, multiple technologies were applied during construction to overcome the durability and crack-resistance challenges of mass concrete pile caps. Currently, the Honghe Bridge project has completed construction of 860 pile foundations, 61 pile caps, and 47 pier shafts, and has completed 145 precast segmental girders.
Future artery crucial to the development of Hengqin and the western urban area
The Honghe Bridge is an important node in Zhuhai's main transportation framework. The project starts in Hongwan, Nanping Town, connecting to the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge link line and forming a crossroads with the Zhuhai section of the Guangzhou-Macao Expressway and the Hengqin Second Bridge. It includes the Hongwan Interchange, crosses the Hongwan Creek westward, passes along the reserved corridor on the north side of the planned Hongwan Port Area, turns southwest to cross the Hongwan Waterway, passes through the planned Mangzhou wetland on Hengqin Island, crosses the Modaomen Waterway to the Hezhou South Reclamation Area, and ends at the connection to the Hegang Expressway and the planned Jinhai Bridge, with the Hezhounan Interchange. The route is 9.654 kilometers long and is a future east-west transportation artery south of Zhuhai Avenue, of great significance to the development of Hengqin and the western urban area.
