On February 22, reporters learned that in 2017 Hefei completed actual investment of 47.654 billion yuan in major construction, a record high, significantly enhancing the city's comprehensive carrying capacity.

Yao Kai, Party Secretary and Director of the Hefei Urban and Rural Construction Commission, stated that 2018 is the opening year for implementing the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress and the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up. The Hefei Urban and Rural Construction Commission will earnestly implement the decisions and arrangements of the municipal Party committee and municipal government, and coordinate the advancement of all work in the urban and rural construction field.

This year, the Hefei Urban and Rural Construction Commission will vigorously carry out a special action to accelerate and improve the efficiency of major construction. On the one hand, taking into account future economic and social development and the actual needs of citizens, it will carefully plan a number of key projects. At the same time, it will scientifically arrange the sequence of project implementation, shorten construction periods, avoid duplicate construction, and effectively solve problems such as “road zippers.” In addition, it will optimize and improve the major construction work process and shorten the approval time for starting construction.

In terms of internal transportation, in addition to comprehensively advancing ongoing rail transit projects, it will also launch Phase I of Line 6 and the extension lines of Lines 2, 3, and 4, actively carry out preliminary design for Lines 7, 8, and 9 projects, and gradually build a rail transit main framework linking the city and counties. At the same time, it will accelerate the construction of a “transit metropolis,” begin construction of dedicated bus lanes on Huangshan Road, Fanhua Avenue, and Chuangxin Avenue, and complete a number of bus depots and terminals such as the Gaoxin Depot.
