As a major municipal public cultural facility, the construction progress of the New Grand Theater has attracted much attention. Chen Yang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Executive Vice Mayor, visited the construction site to learn about the progress of the New Grand Theater project, emphasizing the need to carry out work according to the battle map as required and advance the project construction on schedule.
The Yangzhou New Grand Theater Complex is one of the "Top Ten Cultural Undertakings Projects" in the "Promoting Yangzhou's Cultural Construction to a New Level" initiative determined by the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government. The project is located on the north bank of Mingyue Lake on Wenchang West Road, at the core position of the north-south central axis of the Western New City. The project is divided into two parts: the western plot is the Grand Theater, with a construction area of 80,892.92 square meters. The theater includes a comprehensive opera hall, a drama hall, a traditional Chinese folk art theater, a multi-functional small theater, as well as rehearsal and office facilities; the eastern plot is the supporting facilities, with a construction area of 65,213.92 square meters. The supporting facilities include a book mall, a cinema, cultural commerce, and dining.
Pile foundation construction is currently underway on site. According to staff, the last compression-resistant engineering pile has been successfully completed. After the pile foundation construction is finished, the project will enter foundation construction, negative second floor construction, and negative first floor construction. It is expected that in May this year, the project will reach the plus-minus zero stage.
Once completed, the New Grand Theater Complex will promote the prosperity and development of Yangzhou's culture, enrich the spiritual and cultural life of the general public, and become an important window showcasing the cultural vitality and charm of the famous city of Yangzhou.
