乌干达总统府当天发表公告说，乌肯两国总统当天在乌干达首都坎帕拉以南的恩德培总统府举行会谈，双方讨论了有关修复和升级原有铁路、建设原油管道和炼油厂的相关事宜，表达了提高肯尼亚蒙巴萨港货物清关效率的需求。
穆塞维尼认为乌肯两国需要重点考虑社会经济的转型，同时呼吁东非共同体国家在大型发展项目方面加强合作。
肯雅塔表示将全力支持铁路基础设施项目建设。他说：“修建铁路对于我们发展经济和提高人民生活水平至关重要，这将减少做生意的成本。”对于东非共同体国家来说，推进一体化的收获要大于损失。
肯雅塔24日抵达乌干达，开始对乌进行为期两天的国事访问，这也是他今年3月当选肯尼亚总统后首次访问乌干达。
