From the Transportation Work Conference of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the Party Style and Clean Government Work Conference of the Region's Transportation System held on February 2, it was learned that this year, Inner Mongolia will keep up with the pace of building a strong transportation country, and highlight the three articles of "improving the transportation infrastructure network, promoting the construction of a modern comprehensive transportation system, and enhancing the modern capacity and level of industry governance", providing strong support and guarantee for winning a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects.
Bai Zhi, Director of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Department of Transportation, introduced that this year, Inner Mongolia will complete 70 billion yuan in highway construction investment, add 364 kilometers of expressways open to traffic throughout the year, and reconstruct 1,600 kilometers of national and provincial trunk highways; newly build and reconstruct 5,000 kilometers of rural and pastoral roads, complete hardened roads for 100 merged administrative villages, implement 2,400 kilometers of safety life protection projects for township roads and above, and reconstruct 148 dangerous bridges; within the year, build 1,000 kilometers of resource roads, tourist roads, and industrial roads.
This year, Inner Mongolia transportation will focus on eight tasks: solidly promote supply-side structural reform; resolutely fight the battle of transportation poverty alleviation; increase efforts to advance key reforms; deeply promote the construction of rule-of-law transportation; firmly implement the innovation-driven development strategy; solidly advance the construction of quality transportation and green transportation; improve the level of safe production development; and comprehensively strengthen party building.
Optimizing and improving the highway transportation infrastructure network is an important content. Inner Mongolia will accelerate the construction of the main skeleton of expressways, promote interconnection between provinces and between the eastern and western parts of the autonomous region; gradually increase the proportion of national and provincial trunk highways of second class and above; enhance the supporting and guaranteeing capacity of highway construction for national defense, ports, and the development of border economic belts, striving to achieve by 2020 high-grade highways to all ports, expressways or first-class highways to key ports, and second- and third-class highways running through border national highways; create ecological tourism scenic highways that conform to Inner Mongolia's characteristics, and gradually form a "ten rings and twelve branches" tourism trunk highway network with national and provincial trunk highways as the main skeleton; align with the strategy of building a strong transportation country, and launch research on the modernization of transportation in the autonomous region.
It is understood that in 2017, Inner Mongolia completed 70.23 billion yuan in transportation infrastructure construction investment, added 1,189 kilometers of expressways and 378 kilometers of first-class highways, achieved asphalt (cement) roads in all eligible gacha (villages), and the administrative village access rate reached 99.8%.
