Recently, the pipeline relocation work for the South Canal underground utility tunnel in Shenyang has been completed. The main construction is expected to be finished in June this year, and some pipelines will be the first to enter the tunnel after the tunnel breakthrough. After all pipelines are in the tunnel, the South Canal area will no longer see repeated road excavations.
A responsible person from the Shenyang Municipal Construction Committee introduced that the pipeline relocation for the South Canal underground utility tunnel involves multiple types of pipelines such as power, traffic facilities, water supply and drainage, gas, and heating, totaling seven major categories and about 32 kilometers.
Because the pipelines are located in the old urban area of Shenyang, the on-site pipelines are complex, the population is dense, and the working space is limited, the relocation work is quite difficult. The Municipal Construction Committee actively coordinated with traffic police, municipal management and other administrative departments, as well as pipeline ownership units such as water affairs, gas groups, and power supply departments. Through the full cooperation of all departments, the pipeline relocation along the utility tunnel was finally completed in only 8 months, creating the necessary conditions for the smooth operation of the underground utility tunnel by the end of the year.
At present, several node wells of the utility tunnel have been successfully completed and capped, and the remaining process wells and shield tunneling sections are still under orderly construction in winter. To resist the severe winter cold, various insulation measures have been adopted at the construction site, such as adding hot water pipes for insulation or wrapping insulation cotton around various pipelines; using enclosed warehouses at the shield construction site to keep raw materials warm; and equipping the mixing station and worker rest areas with hot air curtains and other insulation equipment. In addition, insulation sheds or tarpaulins have been set up for the shield equipment to ensure normal operation in winter.
In terms of environmental protection at the construction site, spray dust suppression facilities are installed along the closed enclosures, and spray cannons are placed at the site to spray and mist for dust reduction according to construction conditions, ensuring that the on-site air quality meets standards; dedicated personnel are regularly arranged to water and clean the construction site to keep it tidy. At the same time, mobile noise monitoring points have been set up at multiple locations on the site for real-time monitoring around the clock.
