On December 26, with the completion of the last wet joint concrete pouring of the approach bridge, the Brunei Temburong Bridge, Brunei's first sea-crossing bridge constructed by the Wuhan-based central enterprise CCCC Second Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd., successfully achieved full closure (as shown in the picture).

The Brunei Temburong Bridge is an important bridge connecting Brunei's Muara District and the offshore Temburong Island. The completion of the bridge ends the history of no bridge connection between the two places. The project adopts the EPC contract model (general contracting for design, procurement, construction, and commissioning), with a contract value of 261 million Brunei dollars, approximately 1.273 billion RMB. The project is undertaken by China Harbour Engineering Company under China Communications Construction Company, and constructed by CCCC Second Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd. The construction period is 30 months, and it is scheduled to be completed and opened to traffic in April 2018.

Since the start of the project, the builders of CCCC Second Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd. have faced the harsh high-temperature construction environment in Brunei throughout the year, and have successively overcome technical difficulties such as the construction of offshore super-large slenderness ratio pile foundations, the construction of mass concrete pile caps in tropical regions, the construction of large continuous rigid frame main bridges without tower cranes, and the passage of large bridge erection machines over the main bridge using the short-line method. They have innovatively developed multiple scientific and technological innovation achievements, including the reverse installation of short-line method bridge erection machines, and achieved the bridge closure 5 days ahead of schedule.

The Brunei Temburong Bridge is listed as one of the ten "business cards" of "Made in China" overseas bridges. Once completed, it will accelerate the pace of Temburong Island becoming a world-class industrial park, help reshape Brunei's economic development pattern, and also build a bridge of friendship between China and Brunei.
