The Phase III project of Hefei Metro Line 1 starts from Tianshui Road, runs along Xinbengbu Road and Beierhuan Road, and connects to the starting point of Phase I at Hefei Station (exclusive), running north-south. The line is 4.54 kilometers long and has 3 underground stations: Tianshui Road Station, Wuliu Avenue Station, and Yaohai Park Station (station names are tentative). The average station spacing is 1,496 meters (including the section from Yaohai Park Station to Hefei Station). One parking lot (Tianshui Road Parking Lot) will be built for the entire line.
The Phase III project will be integrated with Phases I and II of Line 1. During the construction period, the Phase III project will complete civil construction and decoration, track laying, equipment installation, single-system debugging, full-line joint debugging, trial operation, and other work.
From the perspective of the urban traffic pattern, the Phase III project of Line 1 passes under the railway and extends into the interior of the Xinzhan District, which can break the railway barrier and provide large-capacity public transportation support for the Xinzhan District, old city area, and Binhu New Area. It will also organically connect the two important transportation hubs of Hefei Station and Hefei South Station on the line, meeting the urgent need for integrated transportation development in different areas of the city.

Hefei transportation incorporated into national strategic layout
In 2017, Hefei adhered to the priority of transportation, and Hefei's transportation was incorporated into the national strategic layout. Its status as a national comprehensive transportation hub has been consolidated, its functions improved, and its location advantages continuously enhanced. Hefei's transportation has achieved a tremendous transformation from "following" to "running in parallel."
Hefei railway achieves great leapfrog development
Hefei's railway construction is changing with each passing day, achieving a historic leap. In the era of "four vertical and four horizontal" lines, Hefei was only connected to one main corridor, the Shanghai-Wuhan-Chengdu passage. But in the era of "eight vertical and eight horizontal" lines, a magnificent "rice-shaped" plan centered on Hefei has emerged—in addition to the Shanghai-Wuhan-Chengdu passage, Hefei is also connected to the Beijing-Shenzhen High-Speed Railway, Hefei-Fuzhou High-Speed Railway, Hefei-Hangzhou High-Speed Railway, Hefei-Zhengzhou High-Speed Railway, and Hefei-Bengbu-Lianyungang High-Speed Railway.
Recently, the National Development and Reform Commission, together with China Railway Corporation, the Ministry of Transport, and the National Railway Administration, officially released the "13th Five-Year Plan" for Railway Development. Several railway projects in Hefei are included, such as the Shangqiu-Hefei-Hangzhou High-Speed Railway, which will be fully completed during the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, and railway projects such as Hefei-Xinyi are expected to start construction.
Among the key high-speed railway projects mentioned in the plan, those related to Hefei include: completing the Shangqiu-Hefei-Hangzhou High-Speed Railway and building the Hefei-Anqing-Jiujiang High-Speed Railway. Among them, the Shangqiu-Hefei-Hangzhou High-Speed Railway is part of the national rapid railway network, with a total length of 793.4 kilometers and a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour.
It is understood that railway projects such as Hefei-Xinyi, Nanchang-Jingdezhen-Huangshan, and Chizhou-Huangshan are listed as new high-speed railways in the "13th Five-Year Plan," laying a good foundation for further improving the province's railway network layout and achieving sustainable railway development.
At present, Anhui is accelerating the promotion of the Hefei-Xinyi high-speed railway project. The project connects south to the Hefei-Anqing-Jiujiang, Nanchang-Ji'an-Ganzhou, and Ganzhou-Shenzhen high-speed railways, and north to the Xuzhou-Lianyungang, Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway second corridor, and coastal high-speed railway, forming a major passenger transport corridor from South China and Southwest China through Hefei to the Shandong Peninsula, which is of important strategic significance for supporting regional development. China Railway Corporation has just approved the Hefei hub master plan, and the design of the West Station will be launched this month.
Real-time bus locations available
When waiting for a bus, citizens are most concerned about where the nearest bus is and how long they have to wait. With the full activation of 427 electronic bus stop signs under Hefei Bus Group, these questions can be easily answered on the electronic signs.
At the "Dongfang Shangcheng" island platform on Changjiang East Street, the LCD screen at the top of the electronic sign can display the current time, weather, distance to the nearest bus, bus operation dynamics and route changes, and public welfare video advertisements for civilized riding. The lower part of the electronic sign is an electronic stop board, which uses red LED lights to display the specific location of buses on different routes in real time. By observing the changes in the LED lights, passengers can intuitively grasp the bus locations.
At present, Hefei has built an intelligent bus dispatching system, achieving full GPS coverage of buses. 500 buses have been equipped with free WiFi systems, making it a city where "scanning codes to ride" is possible, and the riding experience of citizens has significantly improved. Relying on information technology, the transportation command center and taxi management information system have been built, and the industry management level has significantly improved. Service measures benefiting the public and enterprises, such as the 12328 service supervision hotline and networked ticketing for passenger stations at or above the second level in the city, are widely praised.
Diesel buses withdrawn from urban areas
Walking on South First Ring Road, buses pass by from time to time, but there is no black smoke and roaring sound as in the past. On Shuiyangjiang Road, the reporter boarded a No. 41 pure electric bus. The carriage was clean and tidy, and the ride was very smooth.
Data provided by Hefei Bus Group shows that at present, the group has 4,496 operating vehicles of various types, including 906 CNG natural gas vehicles, 1,316 LNG natural gas vehicles, 782 diesel vehicles, 1,120 pure electric vehicles, and 372 hybrid vehicles. The total number of natural gas vehicles is 2,222, accounting for 49.42%; the total number of new energy vehicles is 1,492, accounting for 33.19%. Together, they account for 82.61%, while diesel vehicles account for only 17.39% of the total.
Zhang Yong, an engineer from the Technical Management Department of Hefei Bus Group, told reporters that before the end of this year, all buses within the built-up area of the city will use new energy and clean energy vehicles, and diesel vehicles will be completely withdrawn from the built-up area.
In this regard, Hefei Bus Group has adopted measures such as "phased withdrawal, proper diversion, gradual exit, and early scrapping" to ensure that more than 700 diesel vehicles in use withdraw from operation in the built-up area before the end of the year, comprehensively creating green public transportation.
