　　our editor visited the Ganzhou Gold Airport renovation and expansion construction site
　　and saw that the most anticipated new terminal has begun to take shape.
　　Its curved roof extends to both wings, like a pair of open wings.
　　The smooth apron is immensely broad.
　　A semicircular elevated bridge extends directly to the doors of the second-floor departure hall.

　　The Ganzhou Gold Airport renovation and expansion project is a key supported project of the State Council for revitalizing the Gannan Soviet Area. The project was approved by the Provincial Development and Reform Commission on January 14, 2014, and construction began on November 29, 2015.

　　Workers are installing the steel grid frame on the terminal's second-floor roof.
　　Ganzhou Gold Airport's long-term plan is implemented according to 4D standards, with a far-sighted plan laid out according to 4E standards. The far-sighted annual passenger throughput is 16 million, and the planned controlled land area is 6,000 mu. Among these:
　　The near-term planning target year is 2025, with a predicted passenger throughput of 2.2 million (200,000 international), cargo and mail throughput of 17,600 tons, and 24,000 aircraft movements;
　　The long-term planning target year is 2045, with a predicted passenger throughput of 6 million (600,000 international), cargo and mail throughput of 48,000 tons, and 62,000 aircraft movements.

　　This phase of renovation and expansion uses 2025 as the design target year, with a designed throughput capacity of 2.2 million passengers per year and 569 mu of newly added construction land. The main construction contents are:
　　Add one 1040×23-meter parallel taxiway and one vertical connecting taxiway;
　　Build a new No. 2 apron with 11 aircraft stands;
　　Build a new 22,000-square-meter T2 terminal, a 4,200-square-meter comprehensive business building, 3,100 square meters of staff duty housing, and 996 square meters of public security and security inspection housing, etc.;
　　Expand the substation, oil depot area, and cargo area in place, as well as supporting facilities such as fire protection, power supply, and water supply; the original T1 terminal is reserved as an international waiting building.

　　The elevated bridge extending to the new terminal's departure hall is also under accelerated construction.
　　At present, the Ganzhou Gold Airport renovation and expansion project has completed the bidding and procurement work for the airfield area pavement engineering, fire protection engineering, power supply and visual aids engineering, meteorological engineering, T2 terminal civil engineering, elevated bridge engineering, T2 terminal weak current, HVAC, and process equipment installation engineering, terminal area general layout engineering, ancillary production and living housing engineering, civil aviation professional engineering construction supervision, building construction, municipal and supporting engineering construction supervision, testing and inspection (construction category), aircraft refueling vehicles, boarding bridges, and other engineering and equipment. The preliminary work for the aviation port and general aviation apron projects is being accelerated, with plans to complete the temporary port and general aviation apron construction tasks simultaneously by the end of 2018, and to complete the permanent port construction by the end of 2019.
