On December 11, the street-crossing section of the Longhua Avenue underground utility tunnel in Nanchuan, constructed by China Railway 11th Bureau Group 5th Engineering Co., Ltd., was completed and handed over to the road construction unit ahead of schedule. It received high recognition from the owner, the Nanchuan District Sponge City and Underground Utility Tunnel Construction Leading Group, which sent a congratulatory telegram.
Since the first pile foundation was poured on August 14, all participating personnel have worked with unity and careful organization. Despite a tight schedule and heavy pressure, they quickly created a vigorous construction momentum and completed the schedule target set by the Nanchuan Utility Tunnel Office three days ahead of schedule with safety and quality assured. This ensured that Longhua Avenue opened to traffic on time and avoided delays in the road construction schedule caused by cross-construction between the underground utility tunnel and the municipal road.
The underground utility tunnel is a new type of underground space structure project that “coordinates municipal pipeline planning and ensures urban safety and aesthetics.” It can effectively solve problems such as repeated road excavation, dense overhead line networks, and frequent pipeline accidents, fully safeguarding urban safety, improving urban functions, beautifying urban landscapes, promoting intensive, efficient and transformational urban development, and greatly enhancing the city's comprehensive carrying capacity and the quality of urbanization. The Nanchuan utility tunnel project is one of the key pilot projects of Chongqing's utility tunnel program. Taking the early completion of this street-crossing section as an opportunity, the project department will make persistent efforts to complete the subsequent construction tasks with high quality and efficiency, realize the completion and operation of the underground utility tunnel as soon as possible, “make a name and build a brand” in this emerging field of underground utility tunnels, and open up a larger market.
