Recently, two key construction projects of Qinghai Province's "13th Five-Year Plan"—the G0612 Xining South Ring Road East Extension from Liuwan Interchange to Ping'an East Section Highway Project and the G109 Ledu to Ping'an Section Highway Reconstruction and Expansion Project—have smoothly started construction.
The South Ring Road East Extension from Liuwan Interchange to Ping'an East Section Highway Project is located in the southwestern part of Ping'an District, Haidong City, Qinghai Province, about two kilometers south of Caojiabao Airport. The project starts at Liuwan Interchange of the Xining South Ring Road, runs east along the hillside on the south side of the Shijiaying High-Speed Railway New Area, passes between the Qinghai Cotton Mill and Hongda Driving School, passes the north side of Qixingtai and then passes under the Ping'a Expressway and the planned Xicheng Railway, and sets up the Yaofang Hub Interchange to connect with the Ping'an Expressway. It continues east to connect with the planned Ledu Road, Minhe Road, and Xiangtang Road in Ping'an urban area respectively, and ends at the intersection with Pingzhang Road. The route generally runs east-west, with a total length of 10.869 kilometers and a subgrade width of 33.5 meters. The entire project is built to the standard of a two-way, six-lane expressway with a design speed of 100 kilometers per hour. The construction period is 3 years.
After the South Ring Road East Extension Project is completed, it will not only reduce traffic pressure on the Beijing-Tibet Expressway by diverting traffic, but also add an urban exit for Ping'an, open a second expressway channel from Xining to Ping'an, and effectively connect the South Ring Expressway with the Ping'a Expressway.
The G109 Ledu to Ping'an Section Highway Reconstruction and Expansion Project is a key planned project in the "Qinghai Provincial Road Network Plan (2012-2030)." The route starts east of Xiajie Village, Hongshui Town, Ledu District, and connects with the already-built Guyu Avenue, with a total length of 46.643 kilometers. The connecting line length is 3.564 kilometers. The general sections of the main line are built to the standard of a first-class highway with a design speed of 80 kilometers per hour; among them, the difficult terrain section of Daxia adopts a design speed of 60 kilometers per hour, and the Ledu bypass section, in combination with urban planning, is built to the standard of an urban main road with a design speed of 40 kilometers per hour. The construction period is 3 years.
The G109 Ledu to Ping'an Section Highway Reconstruction and Expansion Project is an important transportation infrastructure construction project in Haidong City, Qinghai Province. As the main traffic artery of Haidong City, it undertakes the main function of logistics transportation. Implementing the capacity expansion and reconstruction of the Ledu to Ping'an section highway can further enhance the close ties between Haidong City and surrounding cities and counties.
