Since the full-scale construction of stations started on May 19 this year, Line 5 has reached another major milestone. On December 13, reporters from Jianghuai Morning Post and Jianghuai Net learned from the construction site of Guiyang Road Station on Rail Transit Line 5 that the first shield machine "Zhengxian" was successfully launched at Guiyang Road Station, marking that the construction of Line 5 has officially entered the tunnel excavation stage.
First Shield Machine Launched, Tunnel Excavation Begins Along the Entire Line
Rail Transit Line 5 starts from the Zhujiang Road Parking Lot access line in the south, and Guiyang Road Station (at the planned intersection of Yunnan Road and Guiyang Road) is the starting station at the southern end. At around 10 a.m. on the 13th, the shield machine "Zhengxian" was officially launched here and advanced toward Chengdu Road Station. This is the first section of Line 5 to carry out tunnel excavation, indicating that Line 5 has expanded from the main structure construction stage of stations to the tunnel excavation stage.
Liu He, deputy project manager of the Line 5 Section 1 project of China Railway No.10 Engineering Group, the contractor, introduced that the civil construction general contracting Section 1 of Line 5 has a total length of 7,024 meters, including Guiyang Road Station, Chengdu Road Station, Sichuan Road Station, Huizhou Avenue Station, Huashan Road Station, and the civil works for the sections between Guiyang Road Station and Chengdu Road Station, between Chengdu Road Station and Sichuan Road Station, between Sichuan Road Station and Huizhou Avenue Station, between Huizhou Avenue Station and Yungu Road Station, between Yungu Road Station and Huashan Road Station, as well as the Zhujiang Road Parking Lot access line. "The contract duration for the entire Section 1 project is 914 days," Liu He revealed.
Huizhou Avenue Station Designed with as Many as 8 Entrances/Exits
Huizhou Avenue Station is located at the intersection of Yungu Road and Huizhou Avenue. It is a transfer station between Line 5 and Line 8 (planned), with Line 5 arranged east-west along Yungu Road and Line 8 arranged north-south along Huizhou Avenue. The station has as many as 8 entrances/exits, with 3 each at the northwest and southwest corners of the intersection. This is the station with the most designed entrances/exits on the entire Line 5.
At present, Yungu Road Station in Section 1 of Line 5 has been completed. It is also a station on Line 1 and will achieve rapid transfer with Line 5 in the future.
When Passing Under the Provincial Museum, Tracks to Lie on a "Simmons"
A relevant person from the Hefei Rail Transit Quality Supervision Station said that the Line 5 tunnel will also encounter many "roadblocks" during excavation, such as the North First Ring Road underpass bridge and the Shouchun Road underpass bridge; along the way, it will also pass alongside elevated bridges such as the Huizhou Avenue Elevated Road and pass under railway lines such as the Ningxi Railway.
It is worth mentioning that in downtown Hefei, Line 5 will pass under two cultural relic protection units—the Anhui Provincial Museum Exhibition Building and the Luzhou Prefecture City God Temple. The project will pass through the construction control zone of the Anhui Provincial Museum Exhibition Building by tunnel for 280 meters, with the line about 10 meters away from the protected unit itself at the closest point. Considering that train vibration may affect the safety of cultural relics, steel spring floating slab track beds will be adopted. In this way, when the train passes underground, it will be like passing over a "Simmons," effectively reducing vibration and noise generated during train operation.
North First Ring Road Station to Set Record with 34-Meter-Deep Excavation
At present, in addition to Line 1, which has been open for nearly a year, and Line 2, which is about to open within the year, Lines 3, 4, and 5 are under construction. Among the major stations of these lines, the deepest known excavation is at Dadongmen Station, where the deepest excavation depth of the station foundation pit reaches 33 meters.
"On Line 5, North First Ring Road Station will break this depth record," said a relevant person from the Hefei Rail Transit Quality Supervision Station. North First Ring Road Station is located on the south side of the intersection of Mengcheng Road and North First Ring Road, arranged north-south along Mengcheng Road. Because coming from south to north, the tunnel must first pass under the Nanfei River and then under the Mengcheng Road Bridge on North First Ring Road, the excavation depth of this station will reach 34 meters underground, with four levels. In the future, to facilitate pedestrians crossing the street, a circular pedestrian bridge will be built at the ground intersection.
