Recently, a reporter learned from the 2017 traffic safety training session for the ready-mixed concrete (mortar) industry organized by the Kunming Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau that in recent years, the overall traffic safety situation for ready-mixed concrete (mortar) transport in Kunming has continued to improve. The accident rate this year fell 68% year-on-year compared with 2012, and so far no major or especially serious accidents have occurred.

According to the introduction, as Kunming's urban construction accelerates, demand for ready-mixed concrete (mortar) in the city continues to grow. This year's supply is expected to reach about 27 million cubic meters. There are currently more than 2,400 registered ready-mixed concrete (mortar) transport vehicles, which are expected to make 2.7 million trips. In recent years, the Kunming Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau, Kunming traffic police and the industry association have jointly adopted a series of measures to ensure the traffic safety of ready-mixed concrete (mortar) transport. These include regular training for drivers, regular inspections of plants and stations, and rules that specialized vehicles must not exceed 40 km/h when driving in the main urban area and must drive along the side of the road. At the same time, corresponding restrictions are imposed on ready-mixed concrete (mortar) transport vehicles entering the city. Among them, vehicles with permits are also assigned routes and driving areas based on the districts they serve and the locations of mixing stations.
