On October 12, the provincial key project — Suining Tangjiadu Hydropower and Navigation Project — reached an important construction milestone: the Phase I cofferdam achieved closure and river cutoff, calming the surging Fujiang River on the left bank of the project.
According to the person in charge of the project construction unit, the subsequent cofferdam pouring work has been fully launched. The grouting and pouring of the cofferdam, with a total length of 1.3 kilometers, is scheduled to be completed by the end of October. After the excavation of the 300,000-square-meter foundation pit is completed by the end of November, concrete pouring for the main works will be fully launched in December this year.
The Tangjiadu Hydropower and Navigation Project is the 41st cascade hydropower station project in the development plan for the main stream of the Fujiang River. The installed capacity of the power station is 42,000 kilowatts, the designed multi-year average power generation is 190.48 million kilowatt-hours, and the total investment of the project is approximately 3.711 billion yuan.
The hydropower and navigation project integrates functions such as urban ecological environment improvement, water supply, flood control, power generation and shipping. It connects upstream with the proposed Wujiajie Hydropower and Navigation Project and downstream with the completed Guojundu Hydropower and Navigation Project. Once completed, it will create for Suining a 25-kilometer-long waterfront line and a broad lake surface of 30 square kilometers.
The project owner is Suining Development Investment Group Co., Ltd., and the construction unit is China Gezhouba Group No. 5 Engineering Co., Ltd. The project is expected to achieve gate closure, water storage and power generation in April 2021.
