From October 8 to 9, the construction site of the key project on Heping South Road in Weifang City, Shandong Province, was bustling with activity everywhere. A large number of builders also stayed on the front line during the "National Day" holiday, making every effort to push the project forward. Dozens of bulldozers and rollers were roaring on site, dozens of transport trucks (lime-fly ash) stood ready to depart, and various construction workers for rebar, support, welding, pipelines and other tasks were working in divided sections on site, racing against each other and striving to be first. The project starts from Cangnan Street in the north and ends at Baotong Street in the south, with a total length of 2.8 kilometers and eight lanes in both directions. A dual-chamber underground utility tunnel is set up along the entire line, with a total investment of 270 million yuan. During the holiday, 119 pieces (sets) of equipment and more than 280 workers were working intensively on site. At present, 2,000 meters of roadbed treatment have been completed, accounting for 80% of the total; 2,000 meters of rainwater pipeline installation have been completed, accounting for about 70% of the total; and 1,300 meters of utility tunnel excavation have been completed, accounting for 50% of the total. The sponge city construction concept has been incorporated into the road construction. This is also the city's first design and construction of a large-diameter cast-in-place concrete utility tunnel. Once completed, it will serve as a main artery of the transportation network in the Zhannan area and play an important role in relieving station traffic.
