The Tanbu Bridge in Tanbu Town, Huadu District, a major traffic artery spanning the Baini River, will be rebuilt at an investment of about 250 million yuan. Yesterday, a reporter learned from the Huadu District transportation department that the 24-year-old Tanbu Bridge is scheduled to start reconstruction in August this year, with a total construction period of 40 months, to be completed in December 2020. The total investment of the project is about 252.9892 million yuan, of which environmental protection investment is about 7.1 million yuan.
The Tanbu Bridge was completed in 1993 and has been in operation for more than 20 years, during which it underwent two rounds of repair and reinforcement. For safety reasons, starting from April 20, 2015, width, height and weight restrictions were imposed on vehicles passing over the Tanbu Bridge. Last year, the Tanbu Bridge was rated as a Class IV bridge, requiring major repair or reconstruction. Given that the old bridge has already been reinforced twice with no room for further reinforcement, and that the bridge deck has only four lanes in both directions, unable to meet growing traffic demand, the Tanbu Bridge reconstruction project was launched.
It is understood that the Tanbu Bridge reconstruction project is located at the original site of the old bridge, spanning the Baini River, and connects with Provincial Highway S118 after crossing the Baini River waterway, running north-south. The road is 1.532 kilometers long, with a planned red line width of 60 meters, and the proposed bridge length is 801 meters (including wing wall length). The bridge section will have eight lanes in both directions, with a bridge width of 40 meters. The entire line is planned to be designed to the standard of a first-class highway combined with an urban arterial road, with a design speed of 60 kilometers per hour. Considering that the project is located within the secondary protection zone of the drinking water source protection area of the Tanbu section of the Baini River, protection measures for the water area and land area will be properly implemented during construction.
