Beijing, July 19 (Reporters Wu Mengda, Liang Tianyun) — In the second half of this year, Beijing will accelerate the construction of the city sub-center, strive to begin construction of the sub-center integrated transport hub before the end of the year, and ensure that some Beijing municipal-level government agencies begin relocation.
This was learned from the 40th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 14th Beijing Municipal People's Congress held on the 19th. Tan Xuxiang, director of the Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission, introduced that this year the detailed plan for the city sub-center and the spatial plans for nine surrounding townships will be completed, and planning coordination between Tongzhou District and the three northern counties of Langfang will be strengthened. Construction of three major functional nodes will be accelerated: the Canal Business District, the City Sub-Center Station, and the regulatory detailed planning scheme for the Urban Green Heart. Among them, the City Sub-Center Station refers to the city sub-center integrated transport hub, including rail transit and intercity railways.
In terms of implementing the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development strategy, Tan Xuxiang introduced that before the end of this year, the new airport terminal will strive to achieve topping-out and enclosure, and the "dead-end roads" among three national expressways within the municipal area will be basically eliminated; the National Speed Skating Oval for the Winter Olympics will strive to complete earthwork construction, the two venues in the Yanqing competition zone will start substantive construction, and the Olympic Village will basically meet the conditions for construction to begin. At the same time, Beijing will proactively align with and serve the construction of the Xiong'an New Area, sign an agreement with Hebei Province to deepen Beijing-Hebei cooperation and support the planning and construction of the Xiong'an New Area, and strengthen cooperation in all respects.
