On July 16, reporters learned from the Chaozhou Municipal Government that the main bridge of the Chaozhou Bridge, the fourth cross-river bridge within the urban area of Chaozhou, has been officially closed, marking the full connection of the main bridge and bringing it closer to opening to traffic on New Year's Day next year. It is understood that the closure of the Chaozhou Bridge main bridge was the most technically complex and precision-critical stage of the entire bridge, with strict requirements at every step and procedure. After completing the straight-section construction of the support scaffolding in early July, construction workers began preparations for the closure segment of the main bridge's main girder. Concrete pouring for the closure segment began on the evening of July 14 and most of the pouring was completed by 2 a.m. on July 15. According to the construction unit, with the main bridge now closed, construction of the Chaozhou Bridge has exceeded 90 percent of the total project, and efforts are being made to complete the bridge and open it to traffic on New Year's Day 2018. The Chaozhou Bridge is located between the Hanjiang Bridge and the Hanjiang Chaozhou Water Supply Hub, on the central axis of Chaozhou's urban planning, and is an extension of Chaozhou Avenue. The main line is designed with a total length of 3,000 meters, including a bridge length of 2,420 meters, with six lanes in both directions and a designed driving speed of 60 kilometers per hour. Once completed, the Chaozhou Bridge will open a traffic corridor between the old and new urban areas, connect the east and west banks of the Hanjiang River, accelerate the city's eastward expansion, and highlight the new pattern of Chaozhou's "one river, two banks" development.
