The groundbreaking ceremony for the Walini Tunnel project of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway in Indonesia, undertaken by China Railway Group Limited, was held on the 15th in Walini, West Java.
　　The Walini Tunnel is located in the 95 km to 96 km section of the designed Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway route. With a total length of 608 meters, it is a single-tube, double-track tunnel and is expected to be completed within one year.
　　The Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway project has a total length of 142 kilometers, connecting Indonesia's capital Jakarta and its fourth-largest city Bandung, with a maximum design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It is planned to be completed and opened to traffic in three years. By then, travel time between Jakarta and Bandung will be shortened from the current more than three hours to 40 minutes.
